It’s officially summer. With it (one can hope) comes long pool days spent with family and friends. From Palm Beach Preppy to Chinoiserie Chic, outdoor spaces - particularly those that involve swimming pools - can be some of the most fun to design. What’s your personal poolside style? A little inspiration to start your holiday weekend off right…

Classic (Above)

Herringbone brick, navy and white, simple silhouettes. Some things never go out of style and a classic backyard design like the one shown here is a perfect example. I love the look of weathered teak chaise lounge chairs coupled with a simple navy and white cushion. Add in pops of red and a sleek white umbrella, and the look is one of which you’ll never tire.

Mid Century ModernMid Century Modern design is so simple, yet whimsical. It just makes me smile. I love a poolside area styled with pops of color like the turquoise shown here. White metal chaises and a fretwork pillow mix perfectly, and the white spheres in the pool itself are such an unexpected touch. With a cabana that’s chicly designed (it even has fine art photography hanging inside!), this space is the perfect place to relax. Yet for me, the double tier fringe umbrella is the ultimate accessory.

Moroccan

Sleek and alluring, this poolside oasis is exactly that. What’s not to love about the black and white graphic tiles and curved outdoor sofa? The red is equal parts captivating and inviting and the ottomans and cocktail table are the perfect choices to evoke a Moroccan feel. I can imagine having after dinner drinks al fresco in this beautiful space.

Palm Beach

Ah, pink and green. The memories this color combination evokes are always sweet and this playful space is no exception. I love the bright pink cushions and bamboo chaise lounge chairs! Plus, the green throw pillows with greek key trim could not be more perfect in this space. Coupled with a 1960s style pale pink umbrella, it’s Palm Beach preppy without being too contrived, cutesy or over-the-top.
